Visit to Dolly’s House

Dolly's House Ketchikan, Alaska

Throwback Travel Thursday. I visited Dolly’s House in Ketchikan, Alaska in August 2019. Yes! It’s a real place!

This famous Brothel at 24 Creek Street in the red light district, entertained loggers, miners and fishermen for $5 a visit 😉 and even sold them stashed contraband liquor ... one visitor at a time!

Dolly purchased the house in 1919 for only $800 and got her investment returned within 2 weeks!

She decorated her home with beautiful sensual furnishings, including a shower curtain with intricate floral designs made from SILK CONDOMS...

She donated much of the earnings from the brothel to a local orphanage and an animal shelter that still functions today!

Dolly’s was shut down in 1954.

Jason & I visited last year as part of our wedding anniversary Cruise to Alaska. Glad we got that trip checked off our bucket list before this year’s COVID.

Each Thurs in August, I will take you back in time to some of our fun travels. And will share more about our current travels in stories during the rest of the week!
